Release workflow (what happens before publish)
- Ingest: source updates are collected from available upstream references.
- Normalize: fields are mapped to the common repository schema (country, postal, place, admin, WGS84 coordinates).
- Validate: automated checks evaluate schema integrity, coordinate bounds, and hierarchy consistency.
- Publish: a new snapshot version is released and sitemap/update signals are refreshed.
Correction and incident handling
If you report a data issue (missing postal codes, naming mismatches, or geographic anomalies), we triage it through the same validation pipeline used for regular rebuilds.
Versioning principles
- Snapshots are immutable references intended for reproducible analytics and ETL jobs.
- If a regression is detected, rollback to the last stable behavior is preferred while root cause is investigated.
- Schema compatibility is preserved whenever possible; notable structural changes are communicated in release notes.
