Geospatial Data Schema (CSV/XLSX/JSON) & WGS84 Reference Standards

All coordinate data in our repository follows the WGS84 (World Geodetic System 1984) standard. This ensures compatibility with modern GIS software, Google Maps API, and Leaflet.js.

Important: Latitude/longitude values represent approximate centroids of administrative localities (not surveyed points and not property boundaries). The number of decimals reflects formatting, not guaranteed real-world accuracy.

Administrative Hierarchy Mapping

To maintain consistency across diverse national structures, we map local divisions to a standardized 4-level hierarchy:

Admin Level 1: State, Province, Region, or Autonomous Community.
Admin Level 2: County, Prefecture, or Department.
Admin Level 3: Municipality or District.
Place Name: The primary locality or town associated with the code.

Versioning & Dataset Maintenance

Datasets are periodically rebuilt and sanity-checked for consistency (schema, hierarchy mapping, and basic geo constraints). Update frequency may vary by country.

For production onboarding, validate delimiter handling, character encoding, null semantics, and numeric coercion before first import. We recommend checksum verification, deterministic column mapping, and idempotent loaders so recurring refreshes can be applied safely with rollback support in case of malformed upstream payloads.
